In the summer of 2024, Capri became a stage for contemporary art with the monumental sculpture “Spaceman Shine” by Filippo Tincolini. Standing over four meters tall, the artwork portrays an astronaut with chromed, reflective surfaces, adorned with flowers and leaves emerging from the space suit. This striking and poetic image invites viewers to contemplate the delicate balance between technological progress and nature.

Through his unique language, Tincolini explores central themes such as human exploration and environmental sustainability, showing how art can create connections between the contemporary world and its deepest roots. Capri, with its timeless charm and rich cultural history, provides the perfect backdrop for a piece that envisions a harmonious coexistence between innovation and tradition.

The installation was complemented by an exhibition at the Liquid Art System gallery, where the artist showcased works from the “Spaceman” series, alongside iconic pieces from the “Flowered Soul” and “Ancient Gods” collections. These works foster a continuous dialogue between past and present, blending noble materials like marble with contemporary techniques that enrich the narrative dimension of his sculptures.

The presence of “Spaceman Shine” sparked lively debate, oscillating between admiration and critique, proving how art can generate authentic reflection and social dialogue. The piece, with its captivating aesthetics and profound message, serves as both a warning and a symbol of hope: the importance of looking to the future while preserving our ancient connection to nature.

With “Spaceman Shine”, Filippo Tincolini reaffirms his role as an interpreter of our time, capable of creating contemporary icons that combine beauty, meaning, and innovation.
